UC-DAVIS | CLEAR CENTER

UC Davis Professor, Frank Mitloehner traveled to North Carolina to meet with Wen Murphy and his family who own and operate a hog farm. One topic of discussion was how swine production has a unique role in lowering the impact livestock have on climate and the environment. Using anaerobic digesters, pig farmers can trap, clean, and convert methane gas produced from swine waste into a form of clean, renewable natural gas that is currently being used to power homes and fuel vehicles.
